Youth Evangelization — World Youth Day

Pope Benedict XVI acknowledged the enthusiasm and energy of young people in his message to youth just before the start of World Youth Day in Madrid last month. He said,

Dear young people, the Church depends on you! She needs your lively faith, your creative charity and the energy of your hope. Your presence renews, rejuvenates and gives new energy to the Church. That is why World Youth Days are a grace, not only for you, but for the entire People of God.

The Franciscan Handmaids of the Most Pure Heart of Mary welcomed the Holy Father’s messages to youth during this great event. Go to Pope Benedict’s Aug. 6 message to youth.

Biblical Basis:

These works are expression of mercy, and are thus expected to be performed in accordance with the Beatitude, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy” (Matthew 5:7)

The works honor the two greatest commandments- The Love of God and Love of neighbor (Matthew 22:35-40)
